Gifted & Talented Scholars Saturday
May 17, 2008

All current GT Scholars in grades 6 – 8 and their families are invited to attend Gifted & Talented Scholars Saturday May 17, 2008 on the University of Arkansas campus. All new members and those who have not had the chance to attend a previous initiation event will be recognized during a special induction ceremony at the Arkansas Union Ballroom. In addition, all attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the University of Arkansas Honors College and Study Abroad programs, and to take special campus tours just for GT Scholars and their families.

Note: The May 17th Scholars Saturday is only for GT Scholars currently in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. A special Scholars Saturday for 9th – 12th grade GT Scholars will be held in the fall. Stay tuned for further details.

Scholar Saturday Schedule

Registration and Check In (9:00-9:30 am)
Arkansas Union Ballroom

Welcome and Induction Ceremony (9:30-10:00 am)
Induction and recognition of new members (Union Ballroom)

Information Sessions - Honors College and Study Abroad (10:15-11:45 am)
Specialized exclusively for GT Scholars (Arkansas Union)

Lunch on Your Own (12:00 - 1:00 pm)
On campus dining available at the Arkansas Union Food Court (Burger King, Chick-fil-A, pizza, salad bar, sub sandwiches, etc.), Quiznos, Zona Mexicana, and the Northwest Quad Dining Center

Departmental Tours/Presentations (1:15 pm)
Gather at Union Mall for tours (if raining, meet in Union Ballroom)

GT Scholars and their guests will have the opportunity to see campus by visiting two academic departments for presentations and tours.

From I-540 north to Fayetteville

Take exit 61
Follow Cato Springs/Razorback Road to UA campus
Turn right on Meadow Street (just past the outdoor track facility)
Follow Meadow Street to Stadium Drive
Turn left on Stadium Drive
Follow Stadium Drive to entrance of the Parking Deck on right (across for Reynolds Razorback Stadium)
Parking in the Deck is FREE on Saturdays
Depending on which floor you park on, you may need to take the stairs or elevator to reach the entrance to the Arkansas Union located just to the north and adjacent to the parking deck
Additional Parking is available in lot 44 just north of Razorback Stadium

Travel east on Sixth Street to Razorback Road
Turn left on Razorback Road and follow north
Turn right on Meadow Street (just past the outdoor track facility)
