iCAMP

Explorations iCAMP is a one-week academic program for rising 7th and 8th graders with day camp and residential options. Led by University of Arkansas faculty, staff and students, our 2009 Explorations iCAMP will provide students with rich, interactive, hands-on learning experiences in mathematics and science. iCAMPers will work together to learn new concepts and tackle exciting challenges in fun and imaginative ways.


Eligibility

Current 6th and 7th graders are eligible to apply. Up to 75 students will be admitted.


Program dates

Our 2009 Explorations iCAMP will be held June 22-26, with residential campers arriving in the evening on Sunday, June 21.


Schedule

Students can attend as a day camp or opt to stay in a residence hall on campus. Programming will begin at 8:00 every morning and conclude for day campers by 5 p.m. Campers will attend one to two academic sessions per day, and the 2009 Explorations iCAMP will have a math/science focus and a curriculum to include physics, engineering, microbiology, geosciences and more. Residential campers will enjoy recreational activities in the evenings.


Supervision

The Gifted & Talented Scholars program director, coordinator, and residential director plan and oversee all summer programming. In addition, an experienced residential staff of student leaders will supervise students at all times.


Cost

The cost of the residential iCAMP is $550 and includes room and board for five nights (Sun.-Thurs.), three meals plus snacks each day, tuition, academic supplies and workshop materials, a program T-shirt, and costs associated with recreational activities and other events.

The cost of the 2009 iCAMP day program is $350 and includes one meal and two snacks each day (Mon.-Fri.), tuition, academic supplies and workshop materials, and a program T-shirt.
